Since late 2018, I've been working from home mainly for Custom Patches Online, a U.S. based business. My role involves creating patch designs from scratch, as well as optimizing existing artwork to ensure it is suitable for embroidery and other products such as metal pins, PVC patches, and stickers. I handle instructions in both English and Spanish, as we serve customers in both languages. To ensure greater color accuracy in embroidery projects, the company even sent me physical thread catalogs to my home. We create patches for a diverse range of groups and industries, including Boy Scouts, schools, sports teams, music bands, fandoms, firefighters, pilots, festivals, motorcycle clubs, and more.
I also maintain a portfolio consisting mainly of recurring international customers (some dating back to 2014), along with a few local clients in Costa Rica.
At the moment, I'm not offering logos or graphic design services to new customers, only to my long-term clients. However, I will soon be offering simple, beautiful websites with no hosting fees. Perfect for freelancers or small businesses. If you are interested, please send me an email.
Yes. I sell ready-made vector designs that can be edited by the customer, they are available through Adobe Stock and Shutterstock. My most popular pieces are inspired by traditional Costa Rican painting and are often acquired for social media content and to create merchandise.
Since the vector files can be fully edited in Illustrator (colors, size, background, layout), it’s always rewarding to see how brands adapt them for their social media content while keeping their own visual identity and brand colors. Here are a few real examples.

No, AI has not negatively affected my work or reduced demand. While AI is an incredible tool and for simple graphic needs it can be enough, many professional design projects still require technical precision, editable vector files, specific measurements, print preparation, aesthetic sense, and detailed client instructions that AI cannot consistently handle. Many clients also specifically request files they can later edit in Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign.
In fact, I often receive AI-generated images that need to be improved, corrected, recreated in vector format, or prepared for high-quality printing. Even so, AI can often help clients communicate and visualize the idea they have in mind more clearly, making it more of a helpful starting point in the creative process rather than a replacement for professional graphic design.
I create my designs and vectors in Adobe Illustrator, therefore it's the program I use the most. Beyond that, here are some other tools I frequently use:
Adobe Photoshop: For photo editing and simple GIFs.
Adobe InDesign: For catalogs, brochures, PDFs, and most print materials.
Clip Studio Paint: For drawing with a graphics tablet, ideal for more complex custom designs.
Eagle App: For organizing my design files and images in a practical and visually appealing way.
Typeface App: For organizing and categorizing fonts, it helps me pick a typeface quickly and easily.
Notion: For saving design tutorials, tricks and ideas.
Visual Studio Code: For editing simple code (front end).
Wacom Intuos S: My graphics tablet. Small, battery-free, and screenless. It works like a charm.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been deeply drawn to art, coloring books, drawing, and anything creative. My mom is a painter and incredibly talented at all kinds of crafts, so creativity was always present in my life growing up.
In the early 2000s, when I was around 11 years old, we got our first computer, and that’s when my passion for technology was born. Over time, my love for technology grew alongside my love for art, and as a teenager, once I discovered graphic design, I immediately knew that was what I wanted to do in the future.
